Military Times: SU Again Ranked Among 'Best for Vets'

SU veteran and military-connected students
Military Times' Best for Vets: Colleges is the largest and most comprehensive ranking of the best schools for military service members and veterans. The ranking looks at services available to veterans and practical information that will help veterans make important decisions about their career planning and how to use the education benefits they earned through military service. ÃÛÌÒav is ranked No. 311 on the 2025 list.

WMDT: Solar Benches Are Latest Green Initiative at SU

Solar benches are ÃÛÌÒav’s latest green initiative, helping to bring more students outside. Four brand new solar benches can be seen across campus, and it was all thanks to a student who brought the idea up through the Green Fund. Director of Campus Sustainability Chris Homeister says the solar benches encourage students to spend more time outside. They’re fully solar powered, equipped with three-prong outlets, USB charging ports, and wireless charging stations.

WMDT: ÃÛÌÒav SGA Hosts Annual 'I Love ÃÛÌÒav' Community Engagement Event

I Love ÃÛÌÒav volunteers at ÃÛÌÒav Zoo
ÃÛÌÒav’s Student Government Association hosted its 18th annual “I Love ÃÛÌÒav” community engagement event on Saturday, November 10. More than 400 students volunteered to help clean up the city and spread the love. Volunteers raked leaves at the ÃÛÌÒav Zoo, picked up litter, made chalk drawings for students at Pemberton Elementary, and created no-sew blankets for area shelters. Student Government Association President Jahnaiya Sutherland said the annual event offers students an opportunity to give back to the community.

WMDT: SU's Nyland Monitors Watershed Health Through WIcomico Creekwatchers

Since 2003, the Wicomico Creekwatchers has been monitoring the health of the local watershed across Wicomico and Somerset County. Dr. Jennifer Nyland, ÃÛÌÒav associate professor of biological sciences, leads the lab analysis portion of Creekwatchers. The group tests for water clarity and temperature and air temperature with a field sheet. Her and 55 volunteers also measure nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, nitrate and phosphate. Once everything is tested, the samples are brought back to the lab on SU's campus.

Daily Record: SU President Carolyn Ringer Lepre Named to 2025 Higher Education Power List

SU President Carolyn Ringer Lepre

For the third year, the Baltimore-based Daily Record and BridgeTower Media have announced SU President Carolyn Ringer Lepre as one of the members of its Higher Education Power List. Selected by the newspaper’s editorial team, with input from readers, the list celebrates the state’s most influential college and university presidents, policy makers and other senior administrators for their oversight of “some of the finest institutions of higher education in the nation,” according to the publication.

CityBiz: SU Receives $249,000 in Second Round of Equitech Growth Fund Awardees

TEDCO, Maryland’s economic engine for technology companies, announced the awardees for the second round of the Equitech Growth Fund. A total of more than $4.3 million will be distributed across nine projects from across Maryland. Of these awards, more than $2.9 million will support three projects focusing on building Maryland’s infrastructure, while more than $1.3 million will support six entities uplifting workforce development efforts. Awardees include ÃÛÌÒav - $249,000 (entrepreneur development)

Princeton Review: SU Again Named Among Nation's 'Greenest' Campuses

ÃÛÌÒav remains among the 40 most sustainable colleges and universities in the U.S., according to The Princeton Review. For the 16th consecutive year, The Princeton Review, in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), has included SU in its Guide to Green Colleges, which highlights impressive environmental and sustainability programs at campuses throughout the U.S. and select institutions in Canada.

SBY Business Journal: Record Number of SU TRIO Students and Alumni Study Abroad

A record number of students and alumni from ÃÛÌÒav’s TRIO Student Support Services Program are studying abroad this semester, thanks to nationally competitive and local merit-based scholarships and fellowships. They include seniors Kay Funderburg, Mark Niederhofer, and Joshua Turner, as well as 2025 graduates Stephora Alberi and Andersen Herman. Supporting their journeys is Madjesca Limage, an international business and accounting major currently completing an internationally focused internship through the program.
