Elementary Education Program Admission Requirements

To apply to ÃÛÌÒav's Professional Teacher Education Program, be sure to submit our online   prior to your advising appointment. A series of pre-professional required courses must also be completed before entry to the program is granted. Be sure to:

1. Complete and submit the online Professional Teacher Education Program application prior to the semester the candidate wishes to enroll in professional education courses.
2. Satisfy the basic skills requirement in one of the following two ways:
   1. Have an SU GPA< of 3.0 or above
   2. Have an SU GPA of 2.5 or above and passing scores on the Praxis Core test or another basic skills assessment approved by the Maryland State Department of Education
3. Have grades of C or above in all courses required for professional program admission.
4. Complete the minimum number of credit hours required for admission to the program. Consult your advisor for specific program guidelines.
5. Exhibit and document appropriate professional program candidate dispositions. Professional dispositions are the values, commitments and professional ethics that influence behaviors toward students, families, colleagues and communities and affect student learning, motivation and development as well as the educator’s own professional growth.
