The Office of Sponsored Programs Office (OSP) at ÃÛÌÒav serves as a bridge between faculty researchers and external partners in industry, government, and nonprofit sectors. Our mission includes support to accelerate use-inspired research—work that applies academic expertise to real-world challenges—by fostering collaborative partnerships and guiding the innovation process from idea to impact.
What We Do
The OSP supports faculty and partners through the full lifecycle of collaborative research and innovation, including:
- Facilitating Research Partnerships
We help connect ÃÛÌÒav faculty and student researchers with external organizations to co-develop research projects that align academic strengths with industry needs. - Supporting Funding and Grant Development
Our team assists faculty in identifying and pursuing funding opportunities that support collaborative and translational research. - Innovation Readiness Training
In partnership with others, the OSP facilitates training for students and faculty on innovation processes and best practices. - Managing Innovation and Intellectual Property
We work closely with researchers to protect and commercialize their discoveries in line with the University System of Maryland’s Intellectual Property Policy, guiding them through:- Partnership agreements
- Invention disclosures
- Patent applications
- Licensing agreements
- Spin-off company startups
- Navigating Agreements and Compliance
OSP helps streamline formal collaboration through standardized templates and agreements, ensuring compliance with institutional and legal requirements.
